Hi, I'm Deb and really not that "divine" - perhaps
more "diva" - but I digress.
Over nearly 3 decades of ministry I have learned a
great many things about myself and others. In particular
I hate being bored, and my congregations hated being bored!!
This includes worship!
My first character (Shirley) was created by accident
one evening while my dear friend Robyn and I were
brainstorming for an upcoming event we were working on.
As soon as Shirley's name popped into my head I had an
immediate sense of who she was and voila - she was born.
But what to do with her? What could she do?
In time
it was revealed! She (and the others) have found places
in worship and other church and community events as
well.
Over the years I have (and am, creating) a
variety of different characters - all inspired for
different situations. I found that most people came to
know and love each individual character for who they
were - to the extend that at times it was the character,
and not me personally, who would get invited to speak at
a meeting or gathering!
The wonderful things about this for me - has been
that the laughter and joy of these characters are not
simply for the chuckle - but they all bring some type of
message in what they say. I like to think that sometimes
God even has a smile!
